Three words sit at the heart of fair care. They are linked, but each means something different.
- **Equality** means treating people fairly and giving everyone the same chances. It does **not** mean treating everyone exactly the same — because people have different needs. Real fairness sometimes means giving one person more support so they can have the same chance as everyone else.
- **Diversity** means valuing the ways in which people are different — their age, background, culture, religion, abilities, and much more. Diversity is a good thing: our differences are part of what makes each person who they are.
- **Inclusion** means making sure everyone feels welcome, valued, and able to take part. An inclusive carer makes sure no one is left out or made to feel less than others.
Put simply: treat people fairly (equality), value their differences (diversity), and make sure everyone belongs (inclusion).
